Whether you’re suffering from a stubborn injury, chronic pain, or soft tissue dysfunction, Shockwave Therapy can stimulate healing where other treatments may have stalled.

This innovative therapy is fast, safe, and effective, helping patients return to an active lifestyle without surgery or extended downtime.

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that delivers controlled acoustic (sound) waves into the body’s tissues. These waves penetrate deep into muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia to stimulate circulation, break down scar tissue and adhesions, and promote natural tissue repair.

The Storz D-ACTOR® 100 Ultra Radial Shockwave device we use is FDA-cleared and trusted by leading clinicians worldwide for its ability to treat chronic and acute musculoskeletal pain. It delivers high-frequency pulses with precision and comfort, making it one of the most effective shockwave technologies on the market today.

It’s commonly used when conventional treatments such as rest, medication, physical therapy, or injections have not provided sufficient relief.

How does it work?

Shockwave Therapy works by delivering radial acoustic waves into affected tissues. These waves create microtrauma that stimulates the body’s natural healing response by:

  • Increasing blood flow to the treatment area

  • Enhancing collagen production

  • Breaking down calcified fibroblasts

  • Disrupting scar tissue and adhesions

  • Stimulating nerve regeneration

  • Reducing chronic inflammation

The result is accelerated healing, reduced pain, improved mobility, and long-term tissue remodeling.

Is it painful?

Most patients tolerate Shockwave Therapy very well. You may feel mild discomfort during treatment as the shockwaves penetrate deep tissue—however, this sensation is typically well-managed and fades quickly. Treatments are brief, typically lasting 5–10 minutes per area.

Some patients experience temporary soreness or redness post-treatment, similar to a deep tissue massage. This is a normal response and usually resolves within 24–48 hours.

Can it be used alongside other treatments?

Absolutely. At Cornerstone Wellness Center, we often integrate Shockwave Therapy with physical therapy, chiropractic care, dry needling, and other modalities for a comprehensive treatment plan. Combining therapies helps address multiple aspects of your condition and can enhance the speed and quality of recovery.
